We Can Do It!

So. Camp NaNoWriMo begins.

Just a quick post here on my plan to write 50,000 words in 30 days, without going insane:

1. Keep desk/room tidy. I’m not off to the best start here, I have to admit. But I’m working on it.

2. Get up at at least 8 every morning. This is horrifically early for me, but it means that I shouldn’t have to spend all of my afternoon writing.

3. Lots of natural light. Having the curtains open also encourages me to keep my room tidy as it’s on the ground floor.

4. Go outside at least once a day. Even if it’s just to Tesco and back. Preferably longer walks if I have the time.

5. Eat properly. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, at a reasonable hour. This also means I’ll snack less.

6. Motivational videos. I think this sort of counts:

  1. I like your positive attitude, keeping any room tidy is always a trial I think, but do go outside and smell the roses, if you have any, or anything that doesn’t remind you of the smells in your room!!

  2. Best of luck! I’m also “attending” Camp NaNoWriMo. It’s my first one so we’ll see how it goes. See you at the campfire, I’ll bring the marshmallows. Haha! 🙂

      • Late lunch, early supper- hope it’s a good meal either way! 🙂

Only 9:30 AM on my end. It’s all coffee and staring at blank pages on the screen for me so far…

  3. To those who are about to write… we salute you. Given my best is 1,500 a day I never get to 50k… , if it all works out let me know, I would love to see the finished product 🙂

  4. Loving your list. I had my 1st taste of NaNoWriMo back in the April camp where I challenged myself to 50,000 words! I am a poet and a writer but I don’t think I had ever written this much in one month before (apart from back in the days of Academic papers!)
I am part way through a non-fiction text which I hoped to publish this year. I promised myself 1000 words a week on it (back in January!) this became a 1000 a month (I was working on many freelance submissions at the time) and eventually I made it my priority in April. I still have about a third to write, but decided I would rebel in a different way this time… I have a lower word count – as I have had a house move – and am still working for most of July! 35000.

I slam dunked the 50K back in April – 54000+ in the end. I was waiting for a Halo – but you only get that in the November official month I believe.

I post regular tips and bits about NaNo on my blog – feel free to check it out and keep your motivation levels up as we approach week 3!
